For 2021, PANTONE Institute has highlighted two tones that seem to be unmatching with each other with a combination of two colors for the second time in 22 years. The sunny yellow of Illuminate and Ultimate Gray, defined by the institute as “combination of colors conveying a message of strength and hope that is both permanent and enlivening “has been matched with a specific purpose.

The desired mission of these two colors is to reflect the culture and spirit of the time we live in; no matter how hard and out of control last year was experienced; emotions of stamina, strength and optimism are put forward through the use of these colors.

Illuminating (PANTONE 13-0647), one of the colors chosen with the help of disciplines such as psychology, sociology and economics to reflect the spirit of the time, symbolizes hope and happiness that exists despite everything as a soft shade of yellow and refers to all the moments making you smile in the darkness. Although Ultimate Gray (PANTONE 17-5104), perhaps the most familiar tone of gray, seems to harbinger pessimism, it stands out as a symbol of persistence up, perseverance and resilience.
